Hi, I’m Karly.
It is so nice to meet you!
I have short story to tell you . . .
At the start of every school year, I would tell my middle school students
“This year, I want you to act like 4-year-olds!”
You know how little kids are always asking WHY? That is what I want from you. I want you to go through life in wonder, asking questions, always learning and loving your lives.
This year, we will learn how to use science to help make sense of your whys. I want you to be Wonders Struck!
Welcome to my blog!
Listen for it…
After two decades in education, I found myself taking a water coloring class.
Across from me sat two moms who homeschool their children. They confided that science was the hardest subject to teach.
I told them to Eavesdrop! Listen for their children’s questions and use those questions to guide instruction.
They looked at me wide-eyed and a little worried.
And so began the idea for this blog
My goal . . .
My goal is to assist educators at home or in the classroom to use students’ questions as a springboard for teaching and learning.
I am a big fan of NGSS and the benefits of phenomena-based, multidimensional teaching. I rely on the EQuIP Rubric for Science to guide my lesson writing.
My lessons have students solving problems and unpacking real world mysteries. My blogs provide a helping hand with tips, resources, and support.
Together, we can encourage lifelong learning in every student.
Let’s do this together!
